Motor & Other Claims

These types of claims are generally higher in value and require more documentation than a windscreen claim would to ensure that they are settled fairly and in a timely manner. Follow our guidelines below for making a Motor collision/Theft/Fire/Flood claim and we guarantee you that it would be settled quickly and fairly, without any unnecessary stress for you.

Step 1 – Reporting to the Police & Beacon

At the scene of the accident, gather all the details as outlined below and submit a report to Beacon using our Beacon Buddy App or downloadable claim forms.

In TRINIDAD, call ForenSys at 866-8888 to gather accident details, submit a complete report to Beacon and this starts the claim registration process.

Essential information to be recorded:

Within 24-hours, report the accident to the Police and obtain receipt for submission.

Within 48-hours, a Claim Technician will contact you to confirm the claim procedure and indicate which documents required. You will need to indicate if you are reporting for record-keeping purposes, claiming from your policy or against the third party’s policy.

Step 2 – Submission of Documents

After your claim report is reviewed, you will be notified of the claim process and advised of supporting documents required if you are claiming on your policy.

Required Documents

1) Estimate for your damages for starting the adjusting process.

2) Proof of ownership for verification before issuing your cheque (certified copy).

3) VAT Status as required by T&T Central bank before claim settlement.

A VAT letter is obtained by either

Taking your BIR Number to the VAT Office
OR
Providing us with your BIR Number for confirmation online

4) Other documents for submission depending on the type of loss

Step 3 – Adjusting the Claim

Upon receipt of the Estimate, an adjuster will inspect and evaluate the damages and recommend an offer. Negotiations will be held to discuss the settlement amount. At that point as well, you will be advised if any required documents are still outstanding.

Step 4 – Claim Settlement

Upon acceptance of offer and receipt of all necessary documents, payment will be processed. A claim technician will be in touch to confirm the details for cheque collection.
